The original certificate or a copy must be present at Running Expo when you will collect your bib number.

Law n° 99-223 on protecting the health of sportsmen and on preventing the consumption of illicit drugs was passed by the French National Assembly on March 23, 1999.
Under the provisions of this new law, all French or non-French runners are required to produce proof of their fitness to participate in running competitions. Such proof must be in the form of a medical certificate issued by a doctor following a medical examination

1/ You are a runner who holds a licence issued by the French Athletics Federation (FFA)

• You must present your FFA licence (2011/2012 season) when you collect your bib from Running Expo between April 12th and 14th, 2012.
• You can send a copy of your FFA Licence (2011/2012 season).

2/ You are a runner who is not a holder of an FFA licence

• You must be in possession of a medical certificate issued less than 12 months prior to the Paris Marathon, i.e. April 15th, 2012, testifying that you are fit to participate in running competitions.
• The original certificate or a copy must be present at Running Expo (between April 12th and 14th, 2012) when you will collect your bib number or must be sent to the organisation before February

Without a medical certificate, you will not be allowed to participate in the Paris Marathon. Participation in sporting events organised by sports federations or under their auspices is subject to the possession of a medical certificate has been issued stipulating the absence of contraindications for participation in running competitions or a copy thereof dating from less than one year.

The medical certificate is issued by your Doctor. After examining you, he will give you a certificate similar to the one below :
I, the undersigned Dr .…, Doctor of medicine, certify that the examination of Mr. YOURSELF reveals no contraindications for participating in running competitions. Medical certificate issued in (place)... on (date) :…

To complete your registration, you have to show it at Running Expo from April 12th to April 15th, 2012.
