A new decade

Joël Lainé

A new decade in the history of the PARIS International Marathon will see the day on the 15th of April next.

Over the last few years the PARIS Marathon has attained significant international status and is now ranked one of the Top 5 marathon races worldwide.

Race registrations full for the last 4 years, a record time of 2 h 06‘ 33": we must preserve and direct the future of this competition, constantly seeking to provide each new edition with additional services for participants.

The traditional runner’s gift bag replaced by a Gym bag, 30th anniversary sun hats distributed to participants, a DVD recounting the 30 years of the history of the marathon in the capital, the sending of SMS before and during the race, the Marathon Info newsletter distributed 3 times a year, the T-shirt, the pasta Party, the Breakfast Run, encouragement bibs, a poncho at the finish and of course the certificate of participation and the traditional medal : nearly all of these features will be adapted and continued in the 2007 edition of the race.

With regard to new arrangements which are reinforced this year, you will find all details relative to "company hospitality areas" on page 4 of Marathon Info N° 26.

Confronted with a growing number of requests for this type of facility, we have decided to set up a structured service that we think corresponds to the genuine requirements of numerous groups of runners.

We encourage you to contact your Works Committee, Head of PR or your Personnel Office to help you benefit from these highly convivial hospitality areas.

We would also like to encourage the greatest possible number of runners to register on-line. In this way, via e-mail, we can regularly send you useful information concerning your preparation or further editions of Marathon info; in short; we can maintain contact throughout the year with the great community of marathon runners.

Help us to make this possible by registering on-line.

In order to maintain and continue to uphold our objective of improving the echelon of services provided for participants, and in view of a repeated and very major shift towards the first slot of registration fees, we have been forced to review fees in order to preserve the balance of the organisation budget.

Nevertheless, our fees remain at a level that provides the PARIS Marathon with the most favourable participation conditions in relation to the other 4 marathon races ranked in the TOP 5.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the Barcelona Marathon that will take place on the 4th March 2007, now co-organised by ASO and RPM, at the PARIS Half-Marathon on the 11th March 2007 or at the PARIS International Marathon on the 15th April 2007.

Sporting wishes on behalf of the entire organisation team.
