Registration > Medical certificate
Law n° 99-223 on protecting the health of sportsmen
and on preventing the consumption of illicit drugs was passed by the
French National Assembly on March 23, 1999.
Under the provisions of this new law, all French
or non-French runners are required to produce
proof of their fitness to participate in running
competitions. Such proof must be in the form of a medical certificate
issued by a doctor following a medical examination.
1/ You are a runner who holds a licence issued by the French Athletics
Federation (FFA)
You must obligatorily write your licence number on the entry form
for the Paris Marathon and attach a copy of your FFA Licence (2005/2006
season).
If you have forgotten to do so, you must present your FFA licence
when you collect your bib from Marathon Expo
between April 6 and 8, 2006.
2/ You are a runner who is not a holder of an FFA licence
You must be in possession of a medical certificate issued less
than 12 months prior to the Paris Marathon, i.e. April 9, 2006, testifying
that you are fit to participate in running competitions.
The original certificate or a copy must be attached to your entry
form and payment and given to the organisers when you register for the
Paris Marathon.
| Without a medical certificate, you will not be allowed to participate
in the Paris Marathon. Participation in sporting events organised
by sports federations or under their auspices is subject to the possession
of a sports licence attesting that a medical certificate has been
issued stipulating the absence of contraindications for participation
in sports competitions, or, with regard to persons who are not holders
of such licences and to whom such competitions are open, the possession
of such a certificate alone or a copy thereof dating from less than
one year. |
If you register via internet, you must send your medical certificate
to A.S.O. Athlétisme as soon as you know your race number (see
the runners list).
The medical certificate is issued by your Doctor. After examining
you, he will give you a certificate similar to the one below:
I, the undersigned Dr .…, Doctor of medicine,
certify that the examination of Mr. YOURSELF
reveals no contraindications for participating in sports competitions.
