Art.1 : A.S.O. will organise the 29th Paris Marathon on April 10th, 2005, under the aegis of La Mairie de Paris.

Art.2 : The marathon measures 42.195 km and respects the international rules for road races (I.A.A.F.) as well as the national requirements outlined in the road race charter (F.F.A.).

Art.3 : The race is open to all athletes licensed or non licensed of French or foreign nationality. The competitors must be born in 1985 or before. Age categories will be given a separate classification in agreement with the F.F.A. You are reminded that inspections will be carried out during the race to ensure the regulations of the race are respected. It is especially pointed out that runners compete in the race under their own responsibility. Participation in sporting events organised by sports federations or under their auspices is subject to the possession of a sports licence attesting that a medical certificate has been issued stipulating the absence of contraindications for participation in sports competitions, or, with regard to persons who are not holders of such licences and to whom such competitions are open, the possession of such a certificate alone or a certified copy thereof dating from less than one year.

Art.4 : Each entry is considered as non transferable and final and implies full acceptance of the rules. No refund will be made whatever the reasons except if the cancellation insurance has been subscribed. No registration transfer will be allowed, whatever the reasons. Any person retroceding his bib to a third party will be held responsible in case of an accident arising or provoked by this third party during the competition. The organisation is exempt from all responsibility in case of an accident in this type of situation.

Art.5 : Bibs must be collected from Thursday April, 7, 2pm; to Saturday April 9, to 8 pm. Location : Marathon Expo - Parc des Expositions - Hall N5 - Porte de Versailles - 75015 -Paris. Bibs will be available on presentation of confirmation of each registration and an identity card. Bibs must be fully legible during the whole race.
Bibs cannot be mailed and cannot be collected on Sunday April, 10.

Art.6 : The official jury is composed of a F.F.A. judge whose decision is final. He is assisted by official race judges and race stewards appointed by the F.F.A. Refreshments posts will be located at every 5 km and at the finish line. Sponges-posts will be located at every 5 km from km 7.5. Timings will be shown every 5 km, at km 1 and 21.1 as well as the finish line. Competitors will be permitted up to 5h40 for completion of the course. After the "end of race" vehicle has passed, competitors should thereafter respect the Highway Code.

Art.7 : General services. Road safety is under control of the police department; medical services are provided by the French Red Cross and civil protection, the first one being 12,5 km after the departure, and the other every 5 km. They are able to stop any competitor for medical reasons.

Art.8 : The ChampionChip system will be used for the timing. Each competitor will be given a chip when collecting starting documents. Check points will be placed, at the start, on the course and at the finish, to control each competitor's timing. Competitors failing to follow the course will be disqualified. Chips must be returned to the organiser after the race. In case of withdrawal or cancellation, chips must be sent to the organiser 15 days after the course, at the latest. Each non returned chip will be charged 15 E and the competitor will be disqualified.

Art.9 : Insurance. o Civil liability. The organiser has taken out a civil liability insurance policy in accordance with current legislation. This contract insures against damage caused by members of the organisation, and all Marathon de Paris competitors. Written proof can be provided on demand.
- Personal insurance: licensed athletes will be covered by the policy linked to their licence. Non licensed competitors or other non insured competitors, can take out supplementary cover via their own insurance company or via the Marathon organisation while collecting their bibs.

Art.10 : Name and likeness. Competitors expressly and exclusively grant to A.S.O. and its assigns, the irrevocable right to use a competitor's name, likeness, biography, factually or other wise in connection with the production, the distribution and exploitation of the pictures related to the Marathon, worldwide in any and all devices, media whatsoever, now known or hereafter known, for the entire duration of the protection period currently awarded by legislative or regulatory bodies, court decisions and/or arbitrages in any country, and currently existing of future international conventions, including eventual prolongations which may be made to this duration.

Art.11 : Bicycles or motorised vehicles are strictly forbidden on the course.

Art.12 : All competitors acknowledge and accept all the clauses of the rules registered at the following adress: Maître PASCAL, Huissier de Justice Associé à Issy Les Moulineaux, 2 place Bonaventure Leca. The competitors agree, on honour, not to anticipate the start and to cover the full distance before crossing the finish line.
